ITFA Educational Seminar in China 2014

On the 12nd of June, the ITFA Board in association with North and East Asia Regional Committee (NEARC) successfully organized a one-day Forfaiting Educational Seminar in Shanghai, China.

110 participants from major Chinese banks, representing not only the 10 NEARC member institutions but also the non-member institutions like Bank of Communications, Industrial Bank, Shanghai Pudong Development Bank, Hua Xia Bank and China Guangfa Bank attended the Seminar.

ITFA Chairman, Mr. Paolo Provera together with Ms. Silja Calac gave great presentations on the Introduction of Trade and Finance, Forfaiting and Calculation, Uniform Rules for Forfaiting (URF), Risk Mitigation and Distribution and the spectrum of Forfaiting. There are lots of discussions on forfaiting market practice, case studies and even the accounting treatment between speakers and participants. Mr. Ashley M. Skaanild from ESSDOCS gave an introduction on E-presentation, which may become the future frontier of trade finance for commercial banks. In the seminar, NEARC Chairman, Mr. Guo Lixin gave a brief introduction to the participants of the ITFA and NEARC, inviting them to attend the ITFA Annual Conference to be held in Barcelona this September.
