The ITFA Board is delighted to announce that Mr. Iain Kirkpatrick – Senior Manager, PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, will be a speaker at this year’s ITFA Annual Conference in Edinburgh, Scotland.
At the Conference, Mr. Kirkpatrick will be presenting the session titled ”Regulation in Trade Finance”. IFRS 9 – The end is in sight, or is it really just the beginning? It’s been over 10 years since the start of the financial crisis and finally one of the changes proposed in the aftermath on how to improve the accounting for financial instruments is just over the horizon. Will 2018 be remembered for the World Cup in Russia, the Winter Olympics in South Korea, or the implementation date of IFRS 9? Much of the wider market focus has been on changes to impairment provisioning but there are a number of other substantive changes with respect to how financial instruments are classified and measured. This session will recap the key changes to the accounting requirements and highlight some of the challenges and decisions faced in its implementation, with a focus on some of the issues relevant in the trade finance market.
