Five Fintechs on stage in Cape Town – a unique opportunity

”At present, $9 trillion of trade finance is coming from banks, and so far, only a negligible additional amount from institutional investors. This compares with a $29 trillion corporate bond market which is predominantly financed by institutional investors”, said Christoph Gugelmann, co-founder and CEO of trade finance investment marketplace Tradeteq.

With less than one month to go to the ITFA Annual Conference, the ITFA Board is pleased to announce that five fintech solution providers will be showcasing their value propositions and demoing their trading venues in Cape Town. This is a unique fintech discovery and learning opportunity for those of you joining us early September.

The sessions will be introduced by ITFA Board representatives Sean Edwards and Paul Coles and moderated by André Casterman, Chair of the ITFA Fintech Committee and CMO at INTIX. The following C-level fintech representatives will be on stage sharing their expert views on origination, risk distribution, credit insurance and non-bank funding:

Sumit Roy is Co-Founder and CMO of Fintech Innovations International (FII), the company that launched TradeAssets. Sumit has 25 years of experience as a global financial institution specialist with expertise in trade finance and international payments. He started his career with Price Waterhouse, working on software evaluation and management consultancy projects before moving to banking, where he worked for American Express Bank in India, USA and the UAE. Before founding FII in 2017, he was a Managing Director in Deutsche Bank, responsible for institutions in the Middle East and Africa.

Sumit has extensive experience in e-Products, primary and secondary trade finance, asset distribution, international payments and cash management. His venture into Fintech stems from a strong desire to continue to help create efficiencies and resolve problems, but from a different perspective and this time, for the industry as a whole.

Nils Behling is Co-Founder and CFO at trade finance market-network Tradeteq. Before entering the fintech space he was a portfolio manager with Trafigura’s Galena Asset Management, where he focused on originating and structuring alternative commodity-based finance.
